The lore could easily remain intact by replacing ddlc with any other new game or characters. It doesn't add to ddlc as you said but more like use it to build for something bigger which ended up depreciating it in a way cause they tried to bend and explain a number of stuff in ddlc in a way that is convenient for that project only.

DDLC which was VM1. And the Project libtina world, which was VM2/Test VM. Ddlc being a small scale simulation and VM2 being all the libitina related stuff/ a large scale simulation. Stuff like why libtina stuff is in ddlc was explained that essentially parts of the libtina simulation were accidentally leaking into ddlc.
