Same for the over temp sensor on the engine, different plug on the 96'. Take the mount for the grey box out the 97' also. on the info guage the seadoo wiring diagram shows inside the info guage the black wire is the ground.. red-purple wire is a 12v souce from the mpem 5amp fuse.. and the purple wire is also a 12 volt sourse going back to the mpem. The 1997 XP has the MPEM in the nose where the two air vents let water fall directly on it. Once Seadoo realized this was an issue on the newer XP Limiteds they moved up high on the side of the engine compartment. Jan 3, 2012 · Ive checked the 5 mpem fuses and 1 fuse in the rear box with multimeter after removing them, all ok. The vts functions normally also and IS connected. Ive put a 12v test light and earthed it direct to earth lead from the battery on the engine and probed the white wire going to the coil in the rear black electrical box where the starter solenoid is.
This relay is activated from a wire from the MPEM. The trigger coil sends a signal to the cdi box and that info is used by the cdi and sends the 12v to the coil (white wire on coil). Also, the rev limiter is built in my cdi box and if that fails you wont get any spark.
