Front sight is the standard size tritium dot and the rear is the vertical bar. Out to 15 yards I just put the tritium dot on top of the bar and center on target.

That inclued pullig the slide back and engaging the hold. After I was done looking around inside, I pulled the slide back to release the hold and it did not retract. I believe it is the magazine follower that trips the slide lock to hold open on last round. It may be that the grip frame had some malformation that that kept the slide lock from engaging. I had the same issue and additionally my mag release felt "gummed up".
