I went through the install with my provider and got everything enabled and set to go while I was on a direct ethernet connection. Install the SB6183. Connect the coaxial cable to a cable wall outlet (if not connected) and the Cable connector on the rear of the SB6183 cable modem. Hand-tighten the connectors to avoid damaging them. My Arris Surfboard SB6183 goes offline and loses connection several times per day. I have contacted Xfinity at least 10 times about this.
