In the summer of 2015, the 84th Texas Legislature passed HB 1842, allowing public school districts to become Districts of Innovation (DOI) and to gain exemption from certain provisions of the Texas Education Code. On Monday, March 21, 2016, the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution to become a Texas District of Innovation.
The Sherman ISD Distance Learning Website is available for all SISD students and will include the first week of at-home instruction for Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27.The website will list both online and non-digital student assignments and parent resources for extended learning at home.
