Wanted to ask if anyone has ever tried staining the Saljan counter-top? I've been considering building a standing desk either using the Saljan or Karlby countertops. Leaning towards the Saljan just because of the cheaper price.

I know the Saljan is laminate instead of veneer of the Karlby, but I did come across a YT video where the person claimed he was able to stain the Saljan using the usual wood staining process, so wanted to see if anyone else on here can atest to that, or if I would technically need to use gel-stain due to the laminate exterior.
