Chrysler 300c key fob not working

Help, I have a 2009 Chrysler 300 and my FOB key isnt working. It's not the battery, its literally falling apart. (hard shell) so I bought another key FOB online and having a hard time programming it because I only have one original key FOB when i bought the car. I notice that in the ignition, it looks like you can use your key but it wont start.
