Jan 3, 2015 · Fully automatic piston miner. EDIT: I rewrote this post for the new version. You need to have three sets of pistons grouped into groups named: "Pistons Vertical", "Pistons Horizontal" and "Pistons Depth", where "Pistons Depth" is the group to which the drill is connected. All three groups must exist and each has to contain at least one piston.
Currently each section takes 2:19 to complete. This can definitely be shortened. This initially had a small drill head on it. So all the current timing was based off how fast those drills could safely drill down, and even then there was a good 5-8 seconds of safety built into it.Auto miner drone is possible without scripts and before the major update. Key blocks you need are remote controller, timer, two sensors, drill, movement block. The idea is to give the drone a gps to move to. Lets use an astroid in space in zero gravity. Once the drone gets to the astroid and get close enough for the drone to sense it.I'm certain we appreciate all your testing but I look forward to a time when Space Engineers JUST WORKS. To solve this, we put in 4 stabilizing pistons that extend to almost touch the 4 sides of the drill shaft. These pistons are actuated when moving the rig and at the start of the drilling operation to prevent the drill from hitting the rover itself. The drill works great! Only complaint is too much stone. Goes a depth of around 100m.
