The issue was that there was too much air in the fuel tank. I regularly have had to take a Philips head screwdriver and press it into the filling valve to release pressure when the tank was empty. Then I'd fill it up and it would work like a charm for a while until I'd have to do it again. Never had this issue with a vector or bb&b torch, tho.
