Jun 28, 1996 · "Sod and Stubble" by John Ise is a great read. It was one of the best books I've read in a while, except for the Bible. It chronicles the life of Henry and Rosie Ise and their many children as they take on the life of pioneers in western Kansas in the late 1880s. It covers about 20 years. After Henry dies, Rosie moves to Lawrence, Kansas.
