Sticking with positive "earth." My best advice to anyone doing a 650 unit rebuild or custom is to completely remove the wiring harness and start from scratch. Only leave the two leads from the points cavity and the two coming from the alternator side. I was looking at the wiring diagram in my manual and noticed that it showed the wires to the ignition switch as: A,B,C -- Red, Red/Gray, Red/Black respectively. But the switch was wired differently from that. It was setup as A,B,C -- R/G, Red, R/B respectively so I switched it up to agree with the diagram.
