To run MakeMKV until Mike updates the beta key message, you will need to set your system DATE back to before the expiration (20 July is good), start MakeMKV, then you can reset your system date to current.

So starting MakeMKV hands off the keys to decrypt the bluray, then VLC has now has the spec requirements to read the unencrypted disc.
