It's not clear if there is a way to save these latest versions from the scanner for others to use in an update. I know there are no R8 updates as of yet, but my RD doesn’t show as connected, and not sure if this is normal, or the usb on my R8 is defective. I installed both the update software and the USB drivers off the Uniden site.
