Thursdays, June 8-22, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The American musical play became an important genre on Broadway in the 1940s and 1950s. Such works tend to tell a serious story with music-and often dance-playing major roles in propelling the drama and aiding in characterization. In this course we will consider the creations of these landmark shows and the use of music and dance in each.
